Wondering what’s in the Leventis Library? Book of the Week is for you! Each week we’ll be highlighting one book from our collection, giving you an idea of the range of topics covered.

You’ll find the book of the week on display by the reader PCs in the Leventis Library and if you want to borrow it at the end of the week just let Lizzie know.

A Complete Guide to Arctic Wildlife by Richard Sale

Arctic WildlifeWe’re launching Book of the Week with A Complete Guide to Arctic Wildlife by Richard Sale in recognition of International Polar Bear Day (which is on Saturday 27th February).

The first part of this book introduces the reader to the Arctic ecosystem with concise but informative sections on geology, climate, habitats, biogeography, human settlement and the impacts of human activity.

The second part of the book is a field guide to the Arctic’s 213 bird species and 77 mammal species. Illustrated with photographs, plates of paintings and colour range maps, the species accounts provide detailed information on identification, distribution, communication, diet and breeding.
